Production, Distribution,Marketing & Exhibition

Production, Distribution, Marketing & Exhibition

There are four stages in making a movie these are:

Production : In order to make a film that will succeed and make profit someone needs to come up with the idea on what the movie will be about. As we know there are many different genres in the film industry so these ideas could be anything. In the production process the film is created and shot, this is done by a crew where each person has their own role and a cast where actors are ready to be recorded. The people involved in the production process are the main directors, the script supervisor, the assistant directors, the sound and picture editors etc. Without these people the production of the film couldn't be completed.

Distribution: Distribution is all about where the film is going to go when it is released. Once the film is released it can go straight onto DVD's or it could be shown in cinema's all around the world or in a particular country. Film festivals are a good way to make the audience aware of the films that are newly released and it is an opportunity for film distributors to spot your film and invest in it if they think it will bring success and profit to the film industry.

Marketing: Marketing your film is one of the key aspects to the success or failure of the film you produce. If marketing goes wrong or isn't strong enough then it wouldn't reach out to a large audience which then will lead to no profit. There are different ways in promoting your films such as trailers, film posters, billboard advertisements, internet, television and radio etc. Skyfall is an example of good advertising and marketing because it generated $1 billion when it was released and viewed by many different audiences around the world.

Exhibition: Exhibition involves exhibitors which are companies like Cineworld and Odeon. Audiences get to see the films that are released through cinema's which offer digital exhibition like Cineworld and Odeon. As we know the recession has limited the things people used to do, going to the cinema to watch a new release is one of these. Nowadays many people prefer watching films at home. The main reason for the cause of this is PIRACY. Piracy has become so good that people stream films online and can find them with no difficulty, so they don't bother wasting their money and prefer watching films for free. This is one of the key problems the film industry is facing and will still be facing in the future due to technology.
