Swede Presentation Summary

After completing our swede and showing our presentation, we reviewed what we did well and what we could improve on. After posting the swede on YouTube we managed to get 301+ views, various likes and a positive comment. We mentioned different things during our presentation that related to the film industry, which are listed bellow.

  1. Convergent technologies
  •  Production - We used the cameras and computer software to shoot and edit our film
  •  Distribution - Used YouTube and other online resources to distribute our film
  •  Marketing - Advertisements such as posters and social media to make people aware of our swede
  •  Exhibition  - Posted the swede on YouTube along with social networks to get feedback
     2. Tent pole movies
  •  A massive release of a movie that a company believes will make a huge profit to make up for the loss of money from other movies
  • Our swede would not be considered a tent pole movie as we didn't produce it to make a profit
     3. Prosumers
  • Through the process of creating our swede, we became prosumers by consuming different types of media and producing our own swede
     4. Media Consumption
  • We consumed a variety of different medias to develop our own swede and take inspiration from them
     5. Cross media convergence
  • Different media that promote each other, they usually wouldn't exist without each other e.g. comics and films
     6. Synergy
  • Different companies promoting the same film e.g. McDonalds Happy Meal toys promotes a  child's films but McDonalds is not related to the company who produced the film. Both products make money by promoting each other
  • Visual synergy - Consistent theme throughout; imagery, font and sound are the same for a movie; we didn't have synergy in our marketing but we know to use it in the future
     7. Audience
  • The people who view the film and give their feedback
     8. Global distribution
  • Making a film available for a world wide audience
  • By posting our film on Youtube we made it available to a global audience and not limiting who can view it
